Divine develops Assassins’s Creed Facebook App

Minor assassinations among friends: Divine is developing an app for Assassins’s Creed: Brotherhood

Dusseldorf, 25.02.2014 Software and games manufacturer UBISOFT commissioned Divine to develop a Facebook marketing strategy. The idea, and subsequently the creation of an app for Assassins’s Creed: Brotherhood was developed. Teach your Facebook friends the meaning of fear with this small application.

The company UBISOFT gave Divine a challenging task: the communications agency based in Dusseldorf was asked to develop a Facebook marketing strategy for its game Assassins’s Creed: Brotherhood. The goal was to make the game experience available on the social media platform. Thus, an app was created, which allows you to perform minor assassinations among friends.

With the app, apparently harmless posts become virtual assassinations. Your friend receives a seemingly “normal” post on their wall – links to funny videos, images and content, which is usually shared on Facebook. Friends who click on such a link will be redirected to an external landing page. A simulation of a treacherous murder will take place there, in which your friend becomes a virtual victim. The user can then click onwards to the actual link, to the app or to the game’s home page.

For the duration of the marketing campaign, the app was also connected to a competition. All users of the app took part automatically, and with their agreement via the Facebook app, they gave access to their contact details. Connecting to Facebook not only strengthened theAssassin’s Creed community in social networking, but also, numerous qualified addresses were generated. Furthermore, the viral distribution of the app and the popularity of the game have risen significantly. The more assassinations performed by a user, the higher his or her ranking on the Facebook fan page.
